During today’s whole school assembly, pupils started learning about Fairtrade. The Rights Respecting Steering Group helped present the assembly, which asked children to think about the food and drink we consume and where these products come from. The Rights Respecting group then told the story of a family visiting tea farmers in Kenya. We learnt about the difficulties tea farmers face and how the ‘FairTrade Premium’ can help farmers support themselves and their families. We also took the time to look at the Fairtrade logo and some products which have a Fair-trade sticker. The Rights Respecting Steering Group would like to continue making Charleston School ‘Fair Aware’ in celebration of Fairtrade Fortnight, which starts on Monday February 29. A big well done to the pupils of the Rights Respecting group for their work so far!
